Derthona «Lacrime del Bricco» takes its name from the place where the Timorasso vineyards with which it is produced are grown. Bricco in Piedmontese dialect indicates the top of a hill; the name Lacrime, however, refers to the suffering of the vineyards due to drought due to the sunniest exposure to the south. It is known that vineyards grown in difficult situations give rise to high quality wines. The calcareous nature of the soil and the presence of sulphurous water springs give this wine a strong personality

Vineyard: Located in the municipality of Montegioco (AL), planted in 2006, 300 m above sea level, south-west exposure

Sixth plant: 0.83x2.50 - Guyot training, southern exposure

Soil: White marl

Yield per hectare: 80 quintals/ha.

Harvest: Mid-September manually in boxes

 

Vineyard processing: Fertilized with organic-based products, green manure in alternate rows with mechanical weeding.

Since 2019 the company has followed the "DTP Passione & Ragione - Sustainable Viticulture" protocol

 

Processing in the cellar: Soft pressing followed by clarification of the must and subsequent alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature (18° C). After an initial racking, the wines remain on the noble lees for 18 months with weekly batonnage until bottling. Bottle refinement for at least 12 months before being put on the market.
